Founded in Izmir as the very first private cement plant of Turkey and the very first cement plant of the Aegean Region, Çimentaş was acquired in 2001 by the Cementir Holding, which was founded in Izmir in 1950 by 20 entrepreneurs from Izmir as the first private cement plant of the Aegean Region, Çimentaş operates in 18 countries in 5 continents with 11 cement plants, 31 terminals, 105 ready-mix concrete plants and 3 waste disposal plants. After being purchased in 2001 by Cemetir Holding, which is among the most important cement groups of the world, Çimentaş has become a foreign-financed corporation.

Çimentaş is the most important affiliate of Cementir Holding with its cement plants located in Izmir, Edirne, Elazığ and Kars; 16 active and 19 completed concrete plants throughout the country; businesses in Istanbul and Manisa, and operations included in the largest and most modern waste management plants of Europe. Çimentaş makes significant contributions to employment with its approximately 1000 employees and to the country’s economy with its corporate tax rating determined every year.

Çimentaş forms its responsible and sustainable operation approach under the highest occupational health and safety and environmental policies of the industry together with the group to which it is affiliated and wants all its employees to display behaviours complying with such policy. Çimentaş carries out its operations adopting internationally accepted standards as well as any relevant laws and regulations and aims at being recognised as a good neighbour through its contributions to the region besides being a responsible producer in its areas of activity.

Çimentaş considers sustainability and innovation to be among its main goals. While achieving alternative fuel applications for economy of energy in cement production, it takes significant steps for waste management and energy recovery through its subsidiaries.

The corporate social responsibility policy of Çimentaş is based on the understanding of acting responsibly towards employees, stakeholders and investers as well as the environment.

Çimentaş Group prioritizes social responsibility initiatives that are shaped according to this understanding as it develops policies based on the following objectives:

In order to realize social responsibility projects and to manage exemplary and sustainable projects in a more correct way, Çimentaş Group established Çimentaş Education and Health Foundation (ÇESVAK) in 1986. Çimentaş Education and Health Foundation realized a huge project on education in 1998 – 1999 academic year under the name of “Işıkkent School”.

Çimentaş Education and Health Foundation endeavours to support, improve and inspire Işıkkent School, which uses an innovative and research-based educational approach. Besides, with the help of Çimentaş Türk A.Ş., ÇESVAK contributes to the development and enhancement of education by building schools in needy areas. The foundation handed over the following projects to the state after completing the construction process and fulfilled its responsibilities in a sensitive way:
