George H. DAMON, Jr. EdD

After completing an undergraduate degree at Amherst College, MA in Economics in 1967, he entered the Peace Corps for two years’ service in Morocco.  Upon his return in 1969, he started a long teaching career working at Dexter School, MA, acquiring an MEd 1973 and EdD 1989 from Boston University.  He started his higher education teaching at Framingham State College (now University) MA in 1973 becoming department chair of the Media Communications department leaving this position in 1988 to come to Robert College, İstanbul as Middle School principal.  Between 1984-1986, he was a visiting Fulbright lecturer in Morocco.  After ten years at Robert College, he became the first Headmaster of Işıkkent School, İzmir serving in that position for 5 years between 1998-2003. He moved to Beirut in 2003 to be the Headmaster of the American Community School at Beirut returning to İzmir in 2013 to join the Board of Işıkkent School.  For one school year 2014-2015, he served as the co-General Manager of Isikkent School.  He now serves on the Board of Işıkkent and several other Boards outside of Turkey.  He lives in Urla with his wife, Joumana, and has two daughters, Arwa and Mawadda, both graduates of Robert College.
